We’ll today I hate them a little less. The calendar I ordered showed up. It only took the USPS 53 days to deliver it but it showed up and my mother loves it.  I guess its a good thing I’ve been busy  and haven’t had the chance to contact my credit card company to dispute the charges. With life getting more and more expensive I’ve been trying to find ways to save some money and where better to look then the recipes from your grandparents cookbooks. They after all have delt with economic problems we luckily are not yet having to dealt with–everyone knock on wood.

This recipe for Tamale Pie is one of my all time favorite meals. Every time I go home to see the folks I request that this dish is made. At some point I learned that my dad’s parents made this because the majority of the materials used were rather cheap and it fed many mouths. Now this isn’t the original recipe as I’m sure my father has changed the recipe somewhat over the years and I have altered the recipe as well, because while I love celery, it didn’t belong.

I know that good customer service is hard to find and I don’t really expect much from those who are stuck working crappy jobs that don’t pay very well, but there is a certain amount of service one expects and the more I’m spending the more I’m going to expect.

This brings me to why I hate Lulu.com. If your not familiar with Lulu they provide printing on demand services which includes books and calendars. For a few years now I’ve been sending my folks a calendar for Christmas that highlights photos from the various adventures and travels I had during the previous year.

Yes, I’ve started my own blog. Yes, I’ve abandoned the blogging software I was developing. And No, I haven’t grown-up.  I’ve been meaning to blog for years, but I’m a very private person and the thought of sharing my thoughts seems wrong. And sharing them in a public format seems even worse. So why am I doing this?

The alignment of the stars, Obama’s inauguration, my age, recent events at work, and the people who live on the west/wrong coast have all in some way motivated me to open a small window into my world. So enjoy!
